How refreshing to feel the cool Autumn air on our faces, the summer heat is just a memory now. And of course, with Autumn comes all of those delicious songs: Autumn in New York, Tis Autumn, Early Autumn, Autumn Serenade, and least we forget the evergreen Autumn Leaves.
I am performing twice this coming week:
The Royal Bopsters will be at the historic Minton’s in Harlem, Birthplace of Bebop, Friday, October 5, sets at 7:30 and 9:30. Accompanying us will be the swinging trio of Will Gorman, piano, Todd Coolman, bass and Tony Tedesco, drums. We are debuting some new material from our upcoming CD as well as singing our hits, it’s going to be lots of fun, please join us!
I am singing with the wonderful pianist and composer Bob Lepley at Grasso’s in Sea Cliff, Long Island, NY, on Monday, October 8. Delightful venue with delicious food.
Other upcoming events:
The Royal Bopsters will once again appear in Anne Phillips’ ‘A Jazz Nativity,’ where I will be reprising the role of Mary as well, on Sunday, December 16, at St Stephen’s Church on West 69th Street on the Upper West Side of NYC.
Ronny Whyte has invited me to his Midtown Arts Council Christmas celebration at St Peter’s Church in the Citicorp building, on Wednesday, December 19, where I will be so happy to sing with his beautiful piano accompaniment, as well as sharing the stage with many of my renowned peers in the jazz world.
I am thrilled to announce that The Royal Bopsters will appear at the legendary jazz club Ronnie Scott’s in London, England, on Monday, February 11, and then travel on to Athens, Greece where we will perform at the Half Note, February 15, 16, 17 and 18.
We Bopsters are putting the final touches on our new CD, release date TBA, entitled ‘Party of Four.’ We were so fortunate to have been able to record with our beloved jazz swinging master vocalists Bob Dorough and Sheila Jordan again, as well as the addition of the amazing Christian McBride, guest bassist on a few cuts.
Hope to see you all at our gigs and out on the town!!
